About
Threadzilla
Okay, here's the short of it: we're a Detroit based, woman owned apparel start up that employs and showcases local artists with a goal to grow and support causes that align with our values. Still wanna know more? Keep reading!
So Kelley is our founder (love you Kelley <3), and she's married to Bill (love you too Bill). They've lived in Detroit for a long time and ran this locally known hot spot "the village idiot pub" (shoutout if you know about it). Fast forward 26 years and four kids later and their oldest daughter is pursuing a career in art. Suddenly they find themselves connected to so many young artists that are just trying to get started and here is where Threadzilla starts. They start employing a local artist (hi that's me, the employed artist) to help make Threadzilla, an apparel company with the central goal of supporting local artists (while also just being an actual good business that supports other causes).
OUR VALUES
We're actual people who believe in stuff and want to make a difference. Ngl, we're poor af rn and could use your help getting to where we want to be. Here are our plans after we sell our first 500 shirts
You're the one who makes it all happen and we want you to have the best experience with us! We're here to help however we can.
All people deserve to exist as themselves and feel safe doing so, regardless of gender, skin color, sexual orientation, age, size, ability, or otherwise. If you're a person (or living in any way) we're on your side.
Can't love people without a planet, and getting into business means respecting, caring for, and doing what we can to rehabilitate the damage we've done.
Art makes the world go round, so we put high priority in supporting artists.

Artists
Why local artists?
How do you actually support them?
Local artists are what bring an area to life and Detroit is an awesome example of this. They paint murals and design community spaces and just make a place cool to live. When they do, people start moving there and the price of living is driven up to the point that the actual artists that made it that way can't afford to live there anymore, so we think they deserve some recognition and some better pay. To do this we,
1. Employ artists for a stable income
2. By doodles from the artists (something that won't put too much stress on them and is still affordable for you) to sell on our site
3. Always provide credit and a bio about the artist to give them some free advertising to hopefully help them with their next big thing
Yup, we're just starting out. As we grow we'll be partnering up with organizations like 1% for the planet, NAMI, PFLAG, LGBTQ Detroit, Plan Parenthood, Brilliant Detroit, and and any others we find along the way. We need your help to get there! All these things cost money, so spread the word! We'd really appreciate it.
